The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Games Lecturer to join our dynamic team on a part-time, permanent basis. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to share your passion for game design, development, and theory with a diverse student body. You will be instrumental in delivering engaging, industry-relevant teaching and supporting students' academic and professional growth.

Preferred hours for this role will be:

Monday: 9.00-13.00  (3 Hours - excluding break)

Wednesday: 13.00 - 17.00 (3 Hours - excluding break)

Thursday: 13.00 - 16.00 (3 hours)

Friday 9.00 - 16.00 (6 Hours - excluding break)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures and practical sessions in games design, development, and related subjects aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Develop and update course materials to reflect current industry trends and technologies.
  • Support students through tutorial sessions, providing guidance on academic progress, career pathways, and personal development.
  • Assess student work fairly and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high-quality teaching and contribute to continuous course improvement.
  • Engage with industry partners to facilitate guest talks, workshops, and work placement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and student progress in compliance with institutional policies.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and quality assurance activities.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Games Design, Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related discipline.
  • Substantial industry experience in game development, design, or a related area.
  • Previous teaching experience in a further education or higher education environment is highly desirable.
  • A passion for games and an up-to-date understanding of industry trends, software, and platforms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with assessment standards and quality assurance processes within education.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and inclusive teaching practices.
