Role Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our existinmg team of experienced Music Lecturers to deliver engaging and effective teaching within our diverse and dynamic educational environment. You will play a pivotal role in shaping students’ understanding of music theory, history, performance, and technology, ensuring they develop the skills and confidence to succeed in their musical pursuits.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and workshops in music theory, performance, composition, and related subjects.
- Design and develop curriculum and course materials that meet academic standards and industry requirements.
- Assess and provide constructive feedback on students’ work, monitoring progress and supporting their development.
- Supervise student projects and performances, encouraging creativity and practical application of skills.
- Engage in departmental meetings, contribute to course development, and participate in quality assurance processes.
- Stay updated with current developments in music education, research, and industry trends.
- Support and mentor students, fostering an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to enhance the overall educational experience.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- A degree in Music or a closely related subject; a postgraduate qualification is highly desirable.
- Proven teaching experience in a higher education or further education setting.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, history, performance, and contemporary music technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire students.
- Experience in curriculum design and assessment practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a collaborative academic environment.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and educational innovation.
Desirable Attributes
- Familiarity with digital music production tools and software.
- Experience supervising student performances and organising events.
- Knowledge of current UK education policies and quality standards.
