Role Overview

As a Senior Lecturer in Film and Photography, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences. You will support curriculum development, contribute to course design, and enhance our students’ practical and theoretical understanding of film and photography. You will also be involved in mentoring students, fostering industry links, and supporting departmental initiatives that promote creativity and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring lectures, seminars, and workshops in Film and Photography to further education students.
  • Develop and update course content to keep pace with industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Support students through academic advising, feedback, and mentoring to encourage their development and success.
  • Lead and contribute to curriculum design, ensuring courses meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop interdisciplinary projects.
  • Maintain and develop professional industry links to enhance student opportunities and curriculum relevance.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional meetings, committees, and quality assurance activities.
  • Contribute to student recruitment, retention, and progression strategies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and scholarly activities related to Film and Photography.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree or higher qualification in Film, Photography, Media Studies, or a related creative discipline.
  • Substantial professional experience in film and/or photography, ideally with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Proven teaching experience in further or higher education, demonstrating excellent pedagogical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of current industry technologies, software, and practices.
  • Ability to design and deliver innovative and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Commitment to student success and the promotion of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and curriculum development is desirable.
