Pathway Manager - Creative Industries

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pathway Manager to lead and manage all curriculum activity across a defined subject pathway. This is a management first role with responsibility for driving high quality teaching, learning, and student outcomes, alongside leading and developing a team of teaching and teaching support staff.

The Pathway Manager will hold accountability for student achievement, retention, attendance, internal verification, and overall pathway quality. Working closely with the Head of Campus, you will play a key role in continuous improvement, risk management, and delivery of organisational targets.

As a member of the campus management team, you will also contribute to wider campus leadership including recruitment, enrichment, staff development, employer engagement, and strategic planning.

What you will do

  • Provide academic and operational leadership across the pathway, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student experience
  • Lead, manage, and support teaching and support staff, including performance management, coaching, and mentoring
  • Conduct staff, course, and programme reviews, standardisation meetings, and contribute to target setting and monitoring
  • Undertake teaching and learning observations, including peer, graded, and joint observations
  • Monitor learner data using management information systems (including Guru) to track performance and report on progress
  • Lead internal verification processes and ensure compliance with awarding body regulations
  • Take ownership of student achievement, retention, and attendance data, identifying trends and driving improvement
  • Implement at-risk intervention strategies in collaboration with the Head of Campus and student support teams
  • Ensure consistent delivery of tutorials and Personal and Professional Development activity
  • Coordinate induction, tutorials, student reports, and timely completion of registers and ILPs
  • Support student progression, including UCAS applications, references, and progression guidance
  • Contribute to enrichment activities including masterclasses, employability activities, and work experience
  • Support recruitment, open days, marketing activity, and employer engagement opportunities
  • Liaise with parents and guardians where required regarding student progress and welfare
  • Ensure safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity, and inclusion are embedded across the pathway
  • Act as part of the campus safeguarding team and complete or work towards DSL qualification
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Campus on timetabling, staffing, quality improvement, and staff development
  • Represent the campus at internal and external events and stakeholder engagement activities

What we are looking for

  • Level 5 teaching qualification (or working towards), such as DTLLS or PGCE
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification at Level 3 or above in a related subject area
  • Experience of managing a team in an educational or creative industries setting
  • Experience of managing courses or programmes and delivering effective curriculum outcomes
  • Experience of student management including enrolment, tutorials, disciplinary issues, and curriculum administration
  • Experience of using data systems to track student progress and drive improvement
  • Experience of internal verification and awarding body compliance requirements
  • Understanding of quality assurance and improvement frameworks in FE or training
  • Experience of employer engagement and developing industry linked learning opportunities
  • Ability to deliver effective, inspirational teaching and learning within subject specialism
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, adaptable to different audiences
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to interpret student data and produce reports to support decision making
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop staff performance and capability
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and subject expertise
  • Experience of contributing to or leading staff development sessions is desirable
