Main Role Objective:
To support the smooth running of the Campus, working closely with the Facilities and Campus Managers to ensure that the buildings, facilities and services are provided and maintained to all company and legislative standards.
To provide front line technical, IT, resources and facilities related support to students and staff with the focus on the provision of an exceptional student experience.
This may include support at differing locations depending on the needs of the campus and business as whole.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Work will be wide and varied but the following will give you an idea of what to expect:
Ensuring all equipment in the facility is always in full working condition. Ensuring that all lecturers using equipment are competent and have received full instruction in use of equipment.
Working with Centre Manager, Resources Manager and other staff to establish site procedures and policies.
Responsible for the security of equipment and premises. May be a named key-holder for security monitoring stations.
Responsible for upholding and promoting Health & Safety in the facility.
Preparatory activities on site prior to the arrival of students.
Represent the mission, aims and policies of dBs Music in a manner that fosters cooperation and respect between staff on site and throughout all dBs Music facilities.
Ensure that all staff are conversant with fire drills and escape procedures.
Ensuring the needs of students, in whatever form, are addressed.
Work to contribute to a high level of morale among the staff.
Attend all academic and general staff meetings as required.
Any other duties appropriate to the role as required by the line manager or management team (within the job holder’s level of skill and ability).
Person Specification Essential
Operational and set up experience of music production equipment and software used in the facility, skills and knowledge required include, but are not limited to:
DAWs including; Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live and Native Instruments.
Mac OS in a networked environment.
Basic network skills.
Analogue and digital mixing consoles.
PA equipment.
Wide range of microphones and outboard.
Projectors and other teaching equipment.
Audio installation, including soldering audio connectors.
Electronic maintenance and troubleshooting.
Awareness of electrical safety and PAT testing.
An understanding of H&S issues, risk assessment and first aid.
Good general maintenance skill
Person Specification Desirable
● Knowledge of Higher Education systems and processes.
● A degree, preferably in music technology or electronics.
● Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
● Experience working in a Further Education/ Higher Education institution.
Unusual Arrangements
The centre is open late nights and weekends, however this can vary depending on student needs. Shift work is shared among the Technician Team.
